Supporting rainbow communities and takatāpui to flourish

The Rule Foundation supports rainbow communities and takatāpui to flourish and pursue systemic change for future generations. We provide grants for activities that seek to advance the health, wellbeing and visibility of rainbow, takatāpui & MVPFAFF+ communities.

Funding available through the Rule Foundation

The Peter Rule Fund was founded from the estate of Peter Rule in 1987. The focus of this fund is on activities that advance the general health, wellbeing and visibility of the LGBTI community as well as for education and research initiatives. Grants from this fund are usually between $250 – $5000. Applications are open all year around.

The Rainbow Wellbeing Legacy fund was founded in 2019 through a $1 million endowment from the New Zealand Government in recognition of the men who were convicted for consensual homosexual activities pre-1986. The focus of this fund is to support activities that focus on improving mental health outcomes for future generations of rainbow communities, especially young people.
